We like any kind of chocolate, so I thought I would get rid of 2 bars of dark chocolate I had hidden away from my munchkins. LOL! These brownies turned out awesome. I love a brownie that has a sheen and these ones certainly fit that bill. They smell so good baking too! Enjoy!

Ingredients For ~ wickedly good brownies ~

  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 stick
    plus 2 tablespoons, butter
  • 2
    eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 8 oz
    dark chocolate - i used 2 - 4 ounce bars and chopped - can use your favorite
  • 1 c
    toasted, slivered almonds

How To Make ~ wickedly good brownies ~

    Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with nonstick spray or grease.

    In a medium saucepan, add water and butter, heat until butter is melted. Stir in sugar, mix well. Beat in the eggs and vanilla.

    In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.

    Slowly stir this into the egg mixture until all is added and smooth. Stir in the nuts and chocolate pieces.

    Spread into prepared baking dish and bake for 35 - 40 minutes or until pick comes out clean.

    Cool on rack, then dig in - these are the type of brownies that would be great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream...
