My family loves this cake. Our neighbor gave me the recipe years ago. She bakes this cake and takes it up to the miners for lunch. It is a cake that is good eaten warm or after it has cooled. Very rich and moist.

Ingredients For peanut butter chocolate cake

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 stick
    oleo
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • ICING
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 6 Tbsp
    buttermilk
  • 1 stick
    oleo (blue package of blue bonnet margarine)
  • 1 box
    powdered sugar
  • 1/2 c
    peanut butter

How To Make peanut butter chocolate cake

    Mix flour, sugar and soda in a mixing bowl. Put water, oleo, and cocoa in saucepan and bring to boil. Pour over dry ingredients and mix well.

    Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well. Pour in a greased and floured 9x13 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

    For Icing...Put 3 Tablespoons of cocoa, 6 Tablespoons buttermilk and 1 stick of oleo in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.

    Add 1/2 cup of peanut butter and 1 box of powdered sugar. Let cake cool about 10 minutes and then poor icing over the cake.
