Ingredients For new york crumb cake

  • CRUMB TOPPING:
  • 2 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    dark brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 2 stick
    butter, unsalted, melted
  • CAKE:
  • 1/4 c
    + 1 tsp canola oil
  • 3 c
    + 1 tsp all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 x lg
    eggs
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • confectioners' sugar

How To Make new york crumb cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    TOPPING: In a medium bowl, combine flour brown sugar & cinnamon. Pour melted butter over mixture & stir gently until large crumbs form.

    CAKE: Brush a 13" x 9" baking pan with 1 tsp oil; dust with 1 tsp flour. In another medium bowl, combine remaining dry ingredients. In a large bowl, whisk together wet ingredients. Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined. Do not over mix. Spread batter into pan, then sprinkle evenly with crumbs. Bake 25 - 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool to room temperature. Before serving, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
