This is another family favorite that got requested to be made often. I remember when I was a little girl, that my Mamaw would let me hold the mixer and mix the batter while she added the ingredients, one at a time. She also usually made a double batch of glaze to go over the cake. She loved it smothered, made it taste sweeter! It was always a family hit. Now I am carrying on the tradition for her, making it on my own (most recently a couple of days ago for my SIL's birthday). She traditionally used a bundt pan to bake it in, but I'm sure a 9x13 pan can be substituted.

Ingredients For my mamaw's lemon or orange supreme cake

  • 1 box
    duncan hones lemon supreme cake mix
  • 1 c
    apricot nectar
  • 3/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 4
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • FOR THE GLAZE
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar
  • juice of one lemon or orange juice

How To Make my mamaw's lemon or orange supreme cake

    Mix cake mix, sugar, oil, and nectar together. Next, add eggs one at a time in mixer. Bake in a tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour.

    Mix 1 cup powdered sugar and juice of one lemon (for lemon glaze, use orange juice for orange glaze). Pour this over cake while still warm to make a glaze.

    Turn oven back to 300 or lower if cake starts browning too fast.
