    chocolate cake mix
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 1/3 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    oil
  • 1/4 c
    sour cream
  • 1/4 c
    dark cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp
    instant coffee
  • FOR THE FILLING
  • 1/2 c
    whipping cream
  • 1 c
    chocolate chips
  • FOR THE MILKY WAY FROSTING
  • 1 c
    + 3 tablespoons butter, softened and divided
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    whipping cream
  • 4 c
    powdered sugar
  • 8
    snack size milky way candy bars + extra for garnish

How To Make milky way cupcakes

    Place all of the cupcake ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Beat for 2-3 minutes. Fill cupcake liners 3/4 full and bake at 350 degrees for 20-22 minutes. Let cool completely. Bring the whipping cream to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate chips. Let sit for 1-2 minutes. Stir until creamy. Let cool slightly.

    Cut a small hole out of the center of the cupcakes. Fill with a spoonful of chocolate. Beat 1 cup butter, vanilla, salt, and whipping cream until creamy. Slowly add sugar until thick. Set aside.

    Cut the Milky Way bars up and put in sauce pan with the extra butter. Stir over medium heat until it is melted. Begin whipping the frosting again and add the melted candy bars as it beats. Whip for 2-3 minutes. Frost the tops of the cupcakes with the frosting and top with extra candy bars if desired.
