Bryson's Notes:
Copied this from a cookbook from First UMC in Asheboro, NC back in 1980. Very delicious.

Directions

1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar and baking powder. Whisk in vanilla and milk mixture. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
2
Melt butter or margarine. Stir in sugar, coconut, milk, nuts and vanilla (this is opt., but I like vanilla!) Spread over hot cake. Broil for about 5 minutes. Serve warm.

Methodist Preacher Cake sounds so good, does anyone know what size pan to bake this in?

Judging by the quantity of ingredients and baking instructions I would think a 9x13 pan would make the most sense

Is this possibly called a Depresion Cake? My Mother made a delicious cake called Depresion cake, we are Methodists and raised in ND. If not does anyone know of this old receipt? Thank you,

I think that no matter your denomination - I was raised by a Methodist mother and Baptist father - this is a GREAT cake!
