Bryson's Story

Copied this from a cookbook from First UMC in Asheboro, NC back in 1980. Very delicious.

Ingredients

2 c
granulated sugar
2 c
all-purpose flour
2 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
vanilla
1 c
milk, which has been scalded and 1 tablespoon butter has been melted into
ICING
1/2 c
butter or margarine
1 c
brown sugar
1/2 c
coconut
3 Tbsp
evaporated milk
1 c
chopped nuts
1/2 tsp
vanilla

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar and baking powder. Whisk in vanilla and milk mixture. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes.

Melt butter or margarine. Stir in sugar, coconut, milk, nuts and vanilla (this is opt., but I like vanilla!) Spread over hot cake. Broil for about 5 minutes. Serve warm.

Carolyn, you are so right......and the cake is delicious.....thanks Bryson for this recipe......come on down to Whitsett sometimes and we can have cake and coffee/tea/or what ever you would like to drink.....have a great day!

This reminds me of a cake my Grandmother made "Hot milk cake". Lost her recipe for it, but I do remember it used the same amounts of ingredients
