This is one of my grandmothers famous cakes that everyone looked forward to at the holidays and I enjoy keep it going. I even have had fun with it and I have done it in cupcakes for individual cakes and I have given it as a house warming gifts in mason jars.

Ingredients For mamaw neal's banana split cake

  • GRAHAM CRACKER CRUMB CRUST
  • 1 box
    graham crackers (crushed)
  • 1 c
    butter, softened
  • FILLING
  • 2 stick
    margarine
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 can
    pineapple, crushed drained
  • 4-5
    bananas
  • 1 lg
    carton of cool whip
  • 1 jar
    maraschino cherries drained
  • 1-2 c
    finely chopped walnuts (or nut of your choice)

    Make your graham crust in a large mixing bowl, then transfer into a sprayed or greased (I do this only to help make removal easier) 9x13 pan (I like to use glass to show the layers) when done aside.

    Take margarine, sugar, and egg and beat with electric mixer (at least 15 minutes) mixture will turn white and look like whipped cream. Put mixture on top of graham cracker crust.

    Slice bananas on top of mixture.

    Cover with pineapple. Cover pineapple with cool whip. Decorate top with cherries and chopped nuts. Refrigerate for 24 before serving
