Lela's Chocolate Cake

My friend Lela brought me this chocolate cake on her way to work. I'm feeling a cold coming on,but that didn't stop me from having a big slice of this cake and a glass of milk.And it's only 9:30 in the morning! Shame on me! Lela is a wonderful baker,she doesn't like to cook everyday,but loves to bake. She knew I'd want her recipe so she brought it too. Hope you enjoy this cake as much as I m,hoping there's some left for the hubs when he gets home.
Lela says instead of flouring the greased pans,use cocoa to "flour" or "cocoa the pans"

pinch tips: How to Fold Ingredients


2 c sugar
1 3/4 c sifted all purpose flour
3/4 c unsweetened cocoa
2 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
2 eggs
1 c buttermilk
1 c hot cocoa
1/2 c vegetable oil
2 t. vanilla


1/4 c cocoa
1/4 c milk(may need a bit more)
3/4 c butter,softened
4 c sifted powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt in large bowl until well blended.
Add eggs, buttermilk, cocoa, oil and vanilla; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes . Pour into two greased and cocoaed 9-inch round cake pans.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely on wire racks.
In a saucepan,add 1st three ingredients;bring to a boil. Add sugar and vanilla and beat well. Frost 2 layer cake.
