My friend Lela brought me this chocolate cake on her way to work. I'm feeling a cold coming on,but that didn't stop me from having a big slice of this cake and a glass of milk.And it's only 9:30 in the morning! Shame on me! Lela is a wonderful baker,she doesn't like to cook everyday,but loves to bake. She knew I'd want her recipe so she brought it too. Hope you enjoy this cake as much as I m,hoping there's some left for the hubs when he gets home. Lela says instead of flouring the greased pans,use cocoa to "flour" or "cocoa the pans"

Ingredients For lela's chocolate cake

2 c sugar

1 3/4 c sifted all purpose flour

3/4 c unsweetened cocoa

2 t. baking soda

1 t. baking powder

1 t. salt
-
2 eggs
-
1 c buttermilk
-
1 c hot cocoa
-
1/2 c vegetable oil
-
2 t. vanilla
- FROSTING:
-
1/4 c cocoa
-
1/4 c milk(may need a bit more)

3/4 c butter,softened
-
4 c sifted powdered sugar

1 t. vanilla
How To Make lela's chocolate cake

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt in large bowl until well blended. Add eggs, buttermilk, cocoa, oil and vanilla; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes . Pour into two greased and cocoaed 9-inch round cake pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely on wire racks. Frosting: In a saucepan,add 1st three ingredients;bring to a boil. Add sugar and vanilla and beat well. Frost 2 layer cake.
