Indeed this is a very delicious and rich cake,My mother baked this cake for us when we were young my favorite way was with pecans baked in it.When I got a hold of it I played with it and tried it with lemon juice inside the cake and in the butter sauce it turned out so good but still just as rich a little went a long way..

I have made this cake twice now and both times it has been a hit. The last time I made this cake I put 1 TBSP of Spiced Rum in the sauce. Very tasty and easy recipe.

what is sour milk? is this something I can make at home or is it something you buy in the store?

just add one tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to the milk and let it sit about 5 minutes :-) That is what I do, butter milk is so expensive and I never use the whole carton since I only buy it for recipes.

did you know you can buy powdered buttermilk? It's on the baking aisle near the canned milk products.

This is the best cake I have ever made and eaten!! I also used lemon juice in the milk instead of buying the buttermilk.

So glad to see it in a different shaped bundt pan as I have a collection of them, but some cakes do not turn out well in them. Thank you!!
