Ice Box Fruit Cake

This was hand written into the crack of The American Woman's Cook Book 1946 by my husband's grandmother.

3/4 lb
each candied pineapple & cherries
1 lb
each white raisins, walnuts and pecans
1 lb
box graham crackers
1 small can(s)
pet milk (5 fluid ounces of evaporated milk)
12 oz
marshmallows, mini
1 can(s)
coconut (1 1/3 cup)
1 tsp
vanilla extract


1Crush graham crackers to meal with rolling pin.

2Melt marshmallows in milk over a double boiler, add vanilla.

3Pour over fruit, nuts and cracker meal. Mix well and pack in pan. Store in refrigerator.

4She doesn't say what size pan... sorry. I would have to guess a 9x13.
