My mother-in-law gave me this recipe. She use to make this for my husband. Before she died she wanted to make sure I had it because Bob loved it so much. It is a delicious hot fudge cake served over vanilla icecream. big hit for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients For hot fudge sunday cake

  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans
  • 1 c
    firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1 3/4 c
    hot water

How To Make hot fudge sunday cake

    preheat oven to 350

    Stir flour, sugar, cocoa, and salt together in mixing bowl.

    Add milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix well with wooden spoon. If you want nuts in it add them now. Pour mixture into an ungreased glass 8x8 or 9x9 baking dish. Mixture will be thick, kinda like brownies.

    Sprinkle the brown sugar on top, then sprinkle the 1/4 c of cocoa on top of that. Pour hot tap water over it and bake for 35-40 min. This will have a layer of hot fudge sauce on the bottom and cake on the top layer. When done spoon in desert dish and top with vanilla icecream.
