Heath Bar Cake

This recipe was handed down by my Mom. She used to bake it when she cooked for the local fire department in my hometown....just so good!!

all purpose flour
2 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c
butter or margarine
1 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
1 c
milk (can be 1%, 2% or whole milk)
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1/2 c
walnuts, chopped
health bar candy bars, regular size, crushed but not too fine

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9 x 13 pan. Sift flour in bowl; add brown sugar; cut in butter (as you would if making pie crust). Reserve 1 CUP of this mixture and set aside.

To the flour mixture, add baking powder, salt, egg, milk and vanilla and beat until well blended. Pour into your well greased 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle the reserve 1 CUP crumbs, the chopped walnuts and the crushed health bar candy bars on top. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Let cool, cut into squares and top with Cool Whip.
