Linda's Notes:

I used a bundt pan for the cake pictured. I dusted it with confectioner's sugar and inverted it, just to be a little different.

This is a wonderfully moist and delicious chocolate cake.  Surprisingly, the beer really enhanced the flavor of the chocolate, and the sour cream helped to make it so moist.  If you are a chocolate lover then this is a must try.  (And it was easy too!)

Mine came out a bit dry. Baked it for exactly 45 minutes, and the tooth pick came out clean. I am thinking that some canned cherry pie filling would be really good with this cake!

Hi Karen, cakes keep baking a little after coming out of the oven. The toothpick coming out clean can be when it's barely done or it will still be clean when a little over cooked. All ovens cook a little different.

I was looking at this recipe on another website and was so tempted to make it but was concerned about other comments I have read that you can taste the beer...is that true?

This looks very much like the Guiness chocolate cupcakes with Baileys/Jameson ganache and frosting. I think this would be a little easier to do - and I may just take that frosting recipe and us on the cake!

April, there is only a HINT of the beer flavor in this cake.

Ginger, you get the beer at any grocery store or liquor store.

Thanks everyone for all your comments. I never knew that when I entered this recipe, that it would be so well received. It really IS a delicious cake....most and flavorful. Enjoy, everyone!

I made this cake yesterday. I increased the sour cream to 1 cup, otherwise, followed the recipe. The cake is dense, moist and delicious. I made a sour cream drizzle to go over it which added moisture as well and the little bit of tang from the sour cream helps to cut the sweet from the cake. Really liked this recipe.
