Clothes-pinned foil pans turn your grill into an oven for baking one large shortcake at the campsite or patio.

Ingredients For grilled fireside shortcake

  • 2 1/3 c
    bisquick
  • 3 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • fresh or canned fruit, crushed with sugar

How To Make grilled fireside shortcake

    Stir all ingredients together, except fruit, to form a soft dough. Spread dough in one sprayed or greased 9-inch foil pie pan. Invert another sprayed or greased same size foil pan over pan with dough. Secure rims together with spring - type clothespins. Place pans on grill 4 inches from hot coals. Cook 15 minutes on each side or until brown. Serve warm with strawberries crushed with sugar or other fruit.

    Note: You may just want to cook dough on a stick over coals until baked through. On long skewers or stick cover end of stick with fol and spray foil all around. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces and form around sprayed foil. Hold over coals until baked through turning often. Remover to dish and server with berries and ice cream or topping.
