Another one of those "old-fashioned" rustic cakes from my grandma.
all purpose flour
1 1/2 c
pure vanilla extract
nuts, chopped (walnuts are good-so are pecans)
tart chopped apples - you don't need to bother to peel them
1Preheat the oven to 350?F, grease a 9" x 13" baking dish.
2Sift or whisk together all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
3Beat together all the liquid ingredients. Beat into the dry ingredients and mix well until smooth.
4Stir in the apples and nuts.
5Bake 45 min - 1 hour at 350 degrees F until the cake passes the toothpaste test.
