Grandma "B" wasn't the Duncan kids grandmother, she wasn't any ones. She never married or had children. But she was adopted into the clan and that's all she was ever known by. This recipe is from and for her.

Ingredients

4
eggs separated
1/2 c
molasses
1 tsp
lemon juice
6 Tbsp
sugar
1 c
sifted cake flour
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
cinnamon
1/2 tsp
nutmeg
1/4 tsp
mace
1/2 tsp
baking soda

Step-By-Step

1Beat egg yolks very lightly, gradually beat in molasses. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add lemon juice and beat until stiff but not dry. Gradually beat in sugar. Fold into egg yolk mixture.

2Sift dry ingredients into separate bowl then, fold into egg mixture.

3Lightly spray pan and pour batter into it. Bake at what she calls a slow oven 325 to 350 for 20-25 minutes. Test to see if done. She didn't think this needed frosting but use your own judgement.
