This has to be my families favorite dessert. It has the consistency of a thick brownie with fudge on top. It has a lot of ingredients, but is really simple to make and worth the effort. Enjoy!

Ingredients For fudge cake

2 cunbleached white flour

2 cgranulated sugar

1/2 cunsalted butter
-
4 Tbspunsweetened cocoa powder

1 cwater
-
1/2 cshortnening
-
2eggs
-
1 tspvanilla extract
-
1 tspbaking soda
-
1/2 cbuttermilk
-
1/2 cbutter, unsalted

4 Tbspunsweetened cocoa powder

1 tspvanilla
-
1/3 cmilk
-
1 lb10x powdered sugar
-
1 cchopped pecans, optional
How To Make fudge cake

11 In a large mixing bowl, mix flour and sugar.

2In a large sauce pan, melt butter, shortening, water and cocoa. Bring to a rapid boil.

3Pour hot mixture over flour and sugar,

4Mix in eggs, baking soday, buttermilk and vanilla. Beat well with a large spoon until all ingredients are combined.

5Pour cake mixture in a 9 x 13 greased baking pan.

6Bake at 400 degrees until cake is done, about 15-20 minutes.

7Start making fudge icing for the cake about 10 minutes before cake is cooked.

8In a separate sauce pan, heat oleio, cocoa and milk. Bring to a boil.

9Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and pecans. Pour icing over hot cake as soon as it is removed from oven. Spread evenly

10Cool cake compeletely before serving.
