Fruit Cocktail Cake

My mother would make this cake when she was in a hurry to get dinner on the table so we could have dessert after. We all loved this cake and its good cold too with ice cream.

Ingredients

1 c
all purpose flour
1 c
sugar
1 tsp
baking soda
1/4 tsp
salt
1 can(s)
fruit cocktail, canned (do not drain)
1
egg
1/2 c
brown sugar
1/2 c
chopped nuts

Step-By-Step

1Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt

2Stir in fruit cocktail

3Add egg slightly beaten

4pour into greased cake pan 8" x 12"

5Mix brown sugar and nuts; sprinkle over batter.

6Bake in 350 deg oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
