Ingredients

1 7 to 8-inch angel food cake
6 large eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/2 c milk
3 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp butter
whipped cream, sweetened
maple syrup
fresh strawberries, cut up

Angel food cake is made into light and sweet French toast in this breakfast recipe.
Also try it for dessert!

Directions

Slice the angel food cake into 10 to 12, 1-inch thick wedges .

In a shallow dish combine eggs, milk, sugar & vanilla.

Soak wedges in egg mixture for 1 minute per side.

In a nonstick skillet or on a nonstick griddle melt butter over medium heat.

Cook 4 wedges at a time for 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

To serve, stand slices in cake formation.

Top with whipped cream.

Drizzle with maple syrup and top with strawberries.

Serve immediately.

Try this with some fried, crumbled BACON. When you put a slice on your plate, with some whipped cream and berries then sprinkle bacon alllllll over it....then you can add sugar-free syrup (if using syrup).

In direction #3 I melt butter and bacon drippings together to fry my Angel Foods slices!!! Well after all, I must fry some BACON anyway to crumble over the slices, right.

I was wondering ... If any of you have used the egg whits in the carton for angel food cakes made from scratch? Just seems like a waste to throw away the yolks. :)

oooooh, never throw away the yolks. There are many recipes you can use them in.

But to answer your question, yes, I have used the carton of liquid egg whites and it did work.
