I got this recipe recently from a friend in Arizona. When baking, this cake develops craters and cracking much like a freeway after a tremor. The finished product is very moist and richly chocolate. Serve with a dollop of whipped topping and it's pure heaven.

Ingredients For earthquake cake

  • 1 c
    coconut
  • 1 c
    nuts- i like pecans
  • 1 pkg
    cake mix, devils food
  • 1 pkg
    8 oz. cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar

How To Make earthquake cake

  • 1
    Grease 9X13 pan. Sprinkle coconut and nuts on bottom of pan. Mix cake mix according to directions on the box and pour over coconut and nuts. Mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla and drop by spoonfuls over cake mix. Sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.
