This wonderful, tasty cake recipe was passed on to me by a very dear friend and has become a true family favorite. I have no idea why it is called Chop Suey Cake other than all of the ingredients are just dumped in the same bowl and mixed up. Who Knows?

Ingredients For chop suey cake

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 lg
    eggs (slightly beaten)
  • 1-19 oz
    can crushed pineapple c/w juice
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans
  • 1 can
    cream cheese frosting

How To Make chop suey cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare 9 x 13 inch cake pan by buttering sides and bottom.

    Place all ingredients in mixing bowl and stir together. Pour into prepared cake pan.

    Place in preheated oven and bake for 40 mins. Test for done by inserting toothpick in center. If it comes out clean remove cake from oven and cool slightly.

    Cream cheese icing is delicious with this cake. I buy canned frosting as I find it every bit as good as home made.
