Ingredients For cappuccino brownies w/ chocolate frosting

  • BROWNIES:
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 4 oz
    chocolate, unsweetened, chopped
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2 x lg
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 2/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • TOPPING:
  • 2 tsp
    instant coffee powder, regular or decaffinated
  • 1 Tbsp
    whipping cream
  • 1 c
    confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • FROSTING:
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c
    whipping cream
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How To Make cappuccino brownies w/ chocolate frosting

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 8" x 8" x 2" baking dish; set aside.

    BROWNIES: Melt the butter & chocolate in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Stir in sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until just combined. Stir in extract.

    Stir together flour & baking soda in a small bowl. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture & stir until combined. Spread batter in prepared pan. Bake 30 minutes.

    TOPPING: Dissolve instant coffee in cream. Beat together confectioners' & butter in a standing mixer with whisk on medium speed. Add coffee/cream mixture & beat until creamy. If necessary, add addtional whipping cream until mixture is of spreading consistency. Spread over warm brownies. Refrigerate 1 hour or until topping is set.

    FROSTING: Combine chocolate, whipping cream & extrac in a small pan. Stir over low heat until chocolate is melted & mixture begins to thicken.

    Carefully spread frosting over brownies. Refrigerate until frosting is set. Cut into bars & enjoy!
