Nelda's Story

I have had this recipe for about 30 years, I can't even remember where I got it from. This is my husband and my favorite cake.

Ingredients

1 c
crisco
2 c
sugar
4
eggs
2 1/2 c
all purpose flour
1/2 c
self rising flour
1 c
milk
2 Tbsp
butter nut flavoring
FROSTING
1-(8) oz
cream cheese, softened
1 stick
butter

Directions Step-By-Step

Cream sugar, crisco and eggs. Add 1 cup of all purpose flour and beat, add rest of ingredients and beat until well mixed. Pour into 2 or 3 greased and floured cake pans.(Depends on how thick you want the layers) Bake at 350 degrees for about 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire racks 10 minutes in pans the turn onto rack and completely cool.

Frosting: Cream butter and cream cheese, add sugar and flavoring, beat until mixed. Stir in pecans.

    Nelda, what an interesting cake this is. All purpose and self rising flour combination certainly sparks my interest. I'll surely try this at some point b/c I love baking cakes. This is such an excellent idea I'll just have to give it a try and hopefully soon. Thanks!

    Yes, this cake recipe was on the lable of the butternut flavor. Speaking of that has anyone tried the new french vanilla flavor?
