Brownies with Cooked Fudge Icing

This is a recipe my mom made when I was a kid. It is always a favorite when I make these. It is one of the few recipes, I don't try to skinny down.

Ingredients

BROWNIE INGREDIENTS

1 1/8 c
butter, melted
6 oz
chocolate, unsweetened squares
2 1/4 c
sugar
5 large
eggs
2 tsp
vanilla extract
1 3/4 c
flour
1 tsp
salt
1 c
nuts

QUICK FUDGE ICING

1 c
sugar
1/4 c
cocoa powder
1/4 c
butter, melted
1/2 c
milk
2 Tbsp
white corn syrup
1/8 tsp
salt
1 3/4 - 2 c
powdered sugar
1 tsp
vanilla extract

Directions Step-By-Step

For Brownies:

Melt butter and chocolate together.
About 3 minutes in the microwave.

Beat eggs in small bowl. Add sugar and vanilla. Mix until well blended.
Add to melted butter/chocolate mixture.
Mix well.

Sift flour and salt together. Mix with nuts(optional); add last to mixture.

Put into greased pan. Bake 25 minutes at 350ยบ or until toothpick comes out clean.

Let the brownies cool before icing.

Quick Fudge Icing
Mix sugar and cocoa in saucepan.
Stir in butter, milk, corn syrup and salt.
Bring to full rolling boil. Boil vigorously for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cool for about 10 minutes.
Beat in sifted confectioners sugar and vanilla.
Pour over brownies. The icing will harden as it cools, so work quickly.
