FIRST LAYER
1 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 c shortening
1/2 c white sugar
1 medium egg
1 tsp vanilla, ( i use pure tahitian vanilla but regular would be fine)
1/3 c milk
2ND LAYER
2 1/2 c fresh or frozen blueberries
TOPPING
1/2 c white sugar
1/3 c flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 c cold butter

YUM!! This is so good served warm with whipped cream or ice cream. I have a freezer full of frozen blueberries and this is one of our favorite deserts.

1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 9-inch square baking dish. stir 1 cup flour, the baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl.
2. Beat the shortening and 1/2 cup sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla, Pour in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing until just incorporated. Pour the batter into prepared pan, then sprinkle evenly with blueberries. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, cinnamon, and butter in a bowl with a fork until crumbly and evenly mixed. Sprinkle evenly over the blueberries.
3. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the buckle comes out clean,and top is golden. about 45 minutes Allow to cool before serving warm.

Saved! Im making this tomorrow, I too have alot of blueberries in my freezer and the freezer just died! Time to start using things up so my other freezers are not so packed full and overworked!!

This recipe just got me to thinkin, when the kids were little eating the jarred baby food (before I started making my own). I used to sneak their blueberry buckle LMBO (bad mommy!!!)

That was the the first thing I thought of when I saw this recipe that baby food dessert. My babies loved it. Now they are all grown up I bet they will love this also. A save for me.
