Prepare and bake cake according to package directions (this will add eggs and vegetable oil to the ingredient list)
once cakes have been moved to wire racks from pan to cool and while cakes are still warm brush or spritz with cherry brandy. For a less alcoholic taste you can mix brandy and the cherry water from the canned cherries and brush this on your cake.
Whip cream and frost center of cake. Add drained chopped cherries on top of cream. Top with second cake layer. Frost with remaining cream. Garnish top with whole cherries. either reserved from the canned cherries or maraschino cherries if you prefer a brighter look. Shave chocolate bar and coat sides with the chocolate. Also you can sprinkle the chocolate on top
