Ingredients

1/2 c
margarine, softened
1-1/2 c
light brown sugar
2 large
eggs
1-1/2 tsp
vanilla flavoring (recipe don't call for it, but i add it)
2 c
all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
soda
1/4 c
buttermilk
1 c
mashed bananas
1 c
chopped nuts

ICING

1 stick
margarine
1 c
light brown sugar
2/3 c
evaporated milk
1-1/2 tsp
vanilla flavoring (recipe don't call for it, but i add it)

Directions Step-By-Step

Cream sugar, butter, eggs and flavoring until fluffy and smooth. Sift together flour, salt and soda; add to dry mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Stir in bananas and chopped nuts.

Pour into a greased 9 inch square pan (I use a 9 x 9 x 2). Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients. Boil until slightly thickened. You can also add chopped nuts to the icing, if desired. Spread on cooled cake.
