My Great Aunt Sis made this after church every Sunday to go along with our breakfast. I got to leave church a little early (she lived across the street) to help her mix it.

Ingredients For aunt sis' breakfast cake

  • 1/2 c
    sugar (actually scant, "almost" 1/2)
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon

How To Make aunt sis' breakfast cake

    Heat oven to 375. Beat egg. Mix by hand: Add sugar and water. Beat in flour, baking powder and salt. Add melted butter and cinnamon.

    Pour into lightly greased pie pan. Dot with pats of butter and lightly sprinkle top with cinnamon. Bake until center springs back when touched (about 40 min). Serve warm with butter or jam.
