Ingredients

3 c sifted flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
SIFT THESE 4 INGREDIENTS
TOGETHER--2 TIMES
1/2 c butter

4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 c sugar
1 c buttermilk
2 tsp rum extract
RUM CAKE GLAZE
1 c sugar
1/4 c water
1/2 c butter

BRING TO BOIL- LET COOL TO WARM
WHEN WARM ADD THESE:
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp rum extract

Carol's Notes:
I always knew it was something special when mom would make this.
Around the holidays or when family was coming for a visit.
When we were little we thought we were being so naughty because of the rum. Tons of good memories with this one.
 
 

Directions

Cream together butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg.

Add buttermilk alternately with dry ingredients.

Bake in slow oven 325 degrees for 1 hour (may take longer depending on your oven)in well greased & floured bundt pan.

Let cake cool slightly before turning out of the pan. Use pastry brush to apply glaze to slightly warm cake.

substitute the rum extract for real dark rum, it makes a world of difference.

You're right Yvette it does, and it is much easier to find then then rum extract.
