  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    sugar

  • 1 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1/4 c
    whole milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 c
    chopped apples
  • FOR THE TOPPING
  • 1/2 c
    quick cooking oats
  • 1/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 3 Tbsp
    unsalted butter, melted

How To Make apple crumble skillet cake

    Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a 10 inch ovenproof skillet with nonstick baking spray with flour. Set aside. For cake: In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy, 3-4 minutes, stopping occasionally to scrape down sides of bowl. Add egg; beat well. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream and milk. With mixer on low speed, add flour mixture to butter mixture in thirds, alternating with milk mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat in vanilla; fold in apple. Spoon batter into prepared skillet, smoothing top with an offset spatula.

    For crumble: In a medium bowl, stir together oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add melted butter, tossing with a fork until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter. Bake until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 35-40 minutes. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
