French Toast with Custard,Caramel and Apples

This is a French recipe from a friend who is French. You make your own custard and caramel sauce and use french or italian slices of bread for your french toast.

1 c
milk
4
egg yolks
2 Tbsp
sugar
1 tsp
vanilla extract
4 Tbsp
butter
5 Tbsp
sugar

whippingcream

thick slices bread

apples,peeled-halved-cored-cut into wedges

Directions Step-By-Step

For Custard scald milk and let sit for 10 minutes.Add vanilla.

Beat 4 egg yolks and 2 tablespoons of sugar and strain the hot milk over it.Whisking as you put the milk in.

Return to saucepan and hear on low until lightly thickened.Whisk and pour into a bowl.Cover and Let cool.

For Carmel Sauce melt 4 tablespoons of butter and 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar in saucepan untill golden brown.

Add 3 tablespoons of whipping cream and stir in saucepan with sugar.Keep warm.

Mix 2 egg yolks,2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, and 3 tablespoons of whipping cream in a bowl.Set aside.

In fry pan heat 4 tablespoons of butter and apples and cook slightly. Add caramel sauce and finish cooking till tender.

For French Toast dip into egg yolk;sugar and whipping cream mixture.Fry in butter till golden on both sides.

Place one piece of bread on plate and spoons on apples then caramel sauce on top then custard dribbled on top of caramel.
