Kathy's Story

The British eat baked beans every morning for breakfast.Beans for breakfast takes time to get used to it.I still do not eat beans for breakfast.

great northern beans
1 Tbsp
1 tsp
dry mustard
1 c
1 1/2 c
red bell pepper chopped
1 c
celery chopped
1 c
crushed tomatoes
whole cloves
2 Tbsp
cider vinegar
1/4 c
unsulfered molasses
1/3 c
brown sugar
2 c

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven at 350.
Mix all ingridents together and place in casserole dish.
Bake for 1 hour,or until peppers,celery and onions are soft.

    I rather like the idea of beans for breakfast. Great protein source and keeps hunger away for hours. I often eat a few spoons of cold left over baked beans for breakfast. For a quick easy supper I grill a pineapple slice or a fry an egg, put it on a piece of toast, add a few spoons of baked beans and top with bacon and/or cheese slices. After a quick pop under the broiler, you have a filling and fast supper dish..
