Overnight French Toast Casserole

If you like a crunchy topping uncover the casserole the last 10 minutes and sprinkle buttered crushed corn flakes. Serve with berries and whipped topping.

Ingredients

1/2 c butter or margarine
12 slices of white bread
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
5-6 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk

TOPPINGS

UNCOVER THE CASSEROLE THE LAST 15 MINUTES AND TOP WITH CRUSHED BUTTERED CORNFLAKES

AFTER BAKING SERVE WITH 2 CUPS OF CRUSHED BERRIES IN 1/4 CUP OF MAPLE SYRUP AND WHIPPED TOPPING

Step-By-Step

1Melt margarine in a 9 x 13 baking pan
2Put 6 slices of bread in bottom of pan
3In a bowl mix 1 cup brown sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon
4Sprinkle 1/2 of this sugar mixture over bread
5Add another layer of 6 slices of bread
6In a bowl, whisk eggs with milk until blended
7Pour over bread layers
8Sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture
9Cover and refrigerate overnight
10Bake covered at 350F 30 minutes
11Uncover and continue baking 15 minutes or until set and browned
