This overnight cinnamon raisin french toast could easily be breakfast or dessert! Rich and sweet, this breakfast casserole has a custard texture and is filled with cinnamon flavor. Once baked, the top gets slightly caramelized and adds a little crunch. Easy to make, leftovers will keep in the fridge for a few days. Just heat a slice in the microwave for about 30 seconds and enjoy.

Ingredients For overnight cinnamon raisin french toast

  • 1 lb
    loaf of cinnamon raisin bread or any other bread your choice
  • 1 pkg
    cream cheese (8 oz)
  • 8 lg
    eggs
  • 2 c
    half and half
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    maple syrup
  • 2 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground nutmeg (optional) i love the flavor

How To Make overnight cinnamon raisin french toast

  • Cinnamon raisin bread cut into cubes.

    Cube the cinnamon raisin bread.
  • Half the bread added to a casserole dish.

    Place 1/2 of the bread cubes in a greased 9" x 13" dish.
  • Cubes of cream cheese added to the dish.

    Top with cream cheese.
  • Remaining bread added to the casserole dish.

    Then top with the remaining bread.
  • Remaining ingredients whisked in a bowl.

    In a large bowl combine the remaining ingredients.
  • Egg mixture poured over the bread.

    Pour over the top of the bread mixture.
  • Casserole dish covered in aluminum foil to chill.

    Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Baking the casserole dish with aluminum foil on.

    In the morning, remove it from the fridge and allow it to stand for 30 mins. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake covered for 30 minutes until a knife inserted comes out clean.
  • Baked French toast casserole dusted with powdered sugar.

    Dust with powdered sugar.
  • Warming the syrup.

    Warm syrup in a pan over low heat or in the microwave. Drizzle onto each serving.
