Doesn't this sound like a great idea just from the title? I don't know why I never thought of this before. I love french toast for breakfast. This can be made the night before and refrigerated, covered, before popping it into the preheated oven in the morning. I melted my butter in the microwave for 22 seconds and that worked well for me, but cooking times may vary.

    bread, torn into cubes
  • 4 lg

  • 1 1/2 c
    heavy whipping cream
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c
    brown sugar, divided
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 c

How To Make french toast casserole

  • 1
Whisk together the eggs, cream, vanilla, and 1/2 cup of the sugar.
  • 2
Add in the bread cubes and combine with hands (you'll get icky. It's worth it).
  • 3
Spray a 9 X 13 inch pan with cooking spray and spread the bread into the pan. Let sit for about 5 minutes.
  • 4
Soften the stick of butter and mix with the cinnamon and 3/4 cups of the brown sugar. Spread over the top of the bread mixture.
  • 5
Cut up the 3 tablespoons of butter (it's easier if the butter is cold) and dot the top of the casserole with butter.
  • 6
Sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Bake at 350 for around 30-45 minutes depending on your oven. Serve with maple syrup.
