pinch tips: How to Crack an Egg with One Hand




1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, 1 stick
2 tbsp. corn syrup
1 loaf french bread, thickly sliced
1 1/2 cups half and half
5 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. kahlua or grand marnier
1/4 tsp. salt

Directions Step-By-Step

Mix the brown sugar, butter and corn syrup in small pan. Simmer until of a syrupy consistncy. Stir occasionally. Pour syrup mixture into 9 x 13 inch baking pan that has been coated with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange bread slices over syrup. Whisk half and half, eggs, vanilla, liqueur and salt in bowl til blended and pour over bread. Chill, covered, for 8 to 10 hours. Bring to room temperature and bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Cut into squares and serve at once with maple syrup and additional butter. Serves 6 to 8
