This recipe can be doubled. I have used canned pumpkin instead of squash and it is still mighty tasty

Ingredients For squash bread

  • 2 c
    butternut squash,cooked
  • 2/3 c
    shortening
  • 2 2/3 c
    sugar
  • 4
    eggs
  • 2/3 c
    water
  • 3 1/3 c
    flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    cloves
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2/3 c
    raisins
  • 2/3 c
    chopped walnuts

How To Make squash bread

    grease and flour 2 large loaf pans
  • 2
    blend squash, shortening and sugar
  • 3
    add eggs and water
  • 4
    sift together flour, soda, salt,b.powder,cinnamon and cloves. Add to squash mixture, blend well

    Add nuts and raisins mix

    Bake preheated oven 350* for 1 hour and 10 min. or toothpick comes out clean.
