This recipe belongs to my late mother-in-law Amanda Gainey aka "Momma Gainey"

She died when I was 1 day from being 11 months old. Actually she died on Labor Day which was Sept 3, 1979.

Deep Fry

Ingredients

1 1/2 c
all purpose flour
1/3 c
sugar
2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
ground nutmeg
1
egg
1/2 c
milk
2 Tbsp
butter, melted
oil for deep fat frying
confectioners' sugar

Directions Step-By-Step

In a large mixing bowl - combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg

In a small mixing bowl - combine egg, milk and butter

Add wet mixture to dry ingredients; mix well

In a electric skillet or deep fat fryer - heat oil to 375 degrees F

Drop dough by heaping teaspoons full, 5 or 6 at a time, into oil

Fry until browned, about 1 to 2 minutes, turning once

Drain on paper towels

Roll in confectioners' sugar
