Traditionally, decorative designs were often stamped in the top of gingerbread.

Ingredients

1 c
honey
1/4 tsp
ground ginger
1/8 tsp
ground cloves
1/8 tsp
cinnamon
1/8 tsp
ground licorice
1 3/4 c
dry bread crumbs
1 Tbsp
anise seeds

Step-By-Step

1Heat honey in top of of double boiler, add spices (except anise) and stir to blend
2Add bread crumbs and mix thoroughly
3Cover and cook on medium heat for 15 mintues
4Sprinkle anise seeds on top and press gently into loaf.
5Cover and refrigerate for two hours. Serve at room temperature in thin slices.
