This recipe is from my husbands grandmother, who made these every Sunday before Church so they would be ready when she got home. People have tried and failed trying to make them just like Grandma Pearl's, but every now and then they come out just right. This is a full batch, to reduce just halve the recipe.
Mix Sugar, Salt and Shortening in a bowl and add Scalded Milk. Cool to lukewarm and add yeast and stir until dissolved. Add flour and mix well.
Cover bowl and let dough rise until double. Kneed dough on board with flour and add more as you work it. Roll the dough into small balls and place on greased baking sheet, cover and let rise again until doubled.
Bake at 350 degrees until the rolls are golden brown.
