I found this recipe on the internet. WWW.simplysogood.blogspot.ca/2010/o3/crusty-bread.html It really is so easy,only four ingredients! The best part is NO KNEADING!(read comments on that site for more info.) You do need a Dutch oven,cast iron,with a lid is best. On loan from my friend Ellie..for the duration.Thank you gal. Set the covered, bread mix over night on your counter and bake the next morning. What could be easier than that. A few of my friends on J.A.P. requested the recipe...so here it is, along with my pictures. Please try it, I baked it this morning. DELISH!! 5/14/12

Ingredients For crusty bread over night & no kneading!

  • 3 c
    unbleached all purpose flour
  • 1-3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    yeast
  • 1-1/2 c
    water

How To Make crusty bread over night & no kneading!

    In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt and yeast. Then add tap water and mix until a shaggy mixture forms.

    Cover bowl with plastic wrap and set aside for 12-18 hours. Over night works great.

    .In the morning, heat oven to 450 degrees. When the oven reaches 45o degrees, place the empty cast iron pot in the oven with the lid on, and heat the pot for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, pour the dough out on a flour covered surface and shape into a ball with your flour covered hands. Cover with plastic wrap and and let set while the pot is heating.

    Remove the HOT pot from the oven, set on a rack. Remove the HOT lid. Drop in the dough. Put the HOT lid back on, and put lbread back in the oven.

    After 30 minutes remove the HOT lid, only. Bake another 15 minutes.

    Remove from the oven, place on a cooling rack . Turn the bread out on a cooling rack. Careful the pot is HOT and heavy.

    Let cool....Slice and enjoy.... MMmmmm GOOD !! and your kitchen smells Sooo wonderful.
