When I came across Betty's recipe for corn bread I decided to add it. Do any of us remember when we made this simple recipe from scratch? It's really easy.

Ingredients

1 1/2 c
milk
1 c
cornmeal
1 1/2 Tbsp
shortening
2
eggs , beat well
1 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
salt
2 tsp
sugar

Step-By-Step

1Scald milk and pour over the cornmeal and shortening. Cool, add beaten eggs, baking powder,salt, and sugar mix well. Pour into a greased shallow pan and bake in a hot oven.
2Bake at 400 for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
