I couldn't find a recipe on here for beer batter hushpuppies so I found this one at cooks.com. The beer makes them so light and fluffy inside and they taste great!

Ingredients

1 c
cornmeal mix
1/2 tsp
sugar
1/4 tsp
salt
1 medium
egg beaten
1 or 2 Tbsp
small diced onion
beer

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Mix all ingredients together and add enough beer to make a stiff batter. drop by spoonfuls into hot oil. deep fry at 325 or pan fry on med hi until golden brown

Have never seen the Aunt Jemima corn meal brand, we get Aunt Jemima pancake/waffle mix and of course the syrup. I DID use the Jiffy mix and got RAVE reviews from friends that said they weren't hush-puppy fans, so I reckon it worked just fine LOL AWESOME recipe!!

no not jiffy. just plain old aunt jemima self rising yellow corn meal mix

cornmeal mix? Are ya talking about like Jiffy cornbread mix or something similar?

Sorry Tammy, I tried to edit and it wont do it right now. maybe the editing will show up when i come back. anyway, only use enough beer to make a stiff batter. it doesn't take much
