Mum's Applesauce Bread

My mum works as a cook at a daycare centre, the kids there love this bread, and so do I.

This recipe calls for raisins, but I like to add walnuts sometimes as well.

Ingredients

1/2 c
butter
1 c
white sugar
1 large
egg
1 c
unsweetened applesauce
1/4 tsp
cloves
1/4 tsp
nutmeg
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1 tsp
baking soda
1 1/2 c
all-purpose flour
1 c
raisins

Step-By-Step

1Preheat oven to 350F.

Cream butter and sugar.
2Add egg and mix well.
3Stir in applesauce, mixing well.
4Sift together flour, spices and baking soda. Stir in raisins (and walnuts if you add some) to flour mix.
5Add dry to wet ingredients, mix until no flour is visible.
6Pour into a greased loaf pan, bake for 45-60 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean).
