Sift together dry ingredients - flour, sugar, baking powder, salt.
Cut shortening into flour mixture using a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Combine egg and milk; Add to flour mixture. Mix until moistened.
Drop dough by rounded spoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 425 degrees for 8 minutes on the second level from the top of oven. Bottoms of the biscuits burn easily so watch 'em.
