In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients.
With a pastry blender, blend in the shortening until crumbly looking.
Pour mix on a floured surface and pat together with floured hands. Do not knead. Pat out to about 3/4 inch thick and cut with 3 inch biscuit cutter, do not twist as you cut.
* Could also be rolled out and cut.
Place in oven for 15 - 20 minutes or until lightly golden and no longer doughy.
