Ingredients

1
egg
2/3 c
milk
2 c
all purpose flour
4 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt
1 tsp
sugar
1/2 c
crisco shortening

Step-By-Step

1Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place the egg in a glass measuring cup. Add enough milk to measure 2/3 C and mix well. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a bowl and mix well.

2Cut the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the egg mixture and stir until moistened. Place on a floured work surface and knead gently until the dough is smooth. Do not over handle the dough.

3Roll the dough ½ inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter. Place on a baking sheet.

4Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown.
