I found this recipe in the St. Anthony Messenger and had to give it a try. So glad I did. It was a huge hit and the family is begging for more.

Ingredients

FILLING

2 Tbsp
butter melted
3 Tbsp
brown sugar
1-2 Tbsp
cinnamon

GLAZE

1/2 c
powdered sugar
2-3 Tbsp
milk
1/2 tsp
vanilla

DOUGH

2 c
flour
1 Tbsp
sugar
1 Tbsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 c
milk
1
egg
1/2 c
butter

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Measure the first 4 Dough indgredients into a med. bowl and mix. Cut in 1/2 cup butter with a pastry fork until it looks like coarse crumbs. Beat together egg and milk and stir into dry mixture. Stir until dough clings together and then beat for 1 minute by hand.
2
On a floured surface pat dough into a 8x15 inch rectangle. Brush dough with melted butter and sprinkle on the brown sugar and cinnamon. Fold dough in half lengthwise, making a 4x15 inch rectangle. Using a pizza cutter cut into 1 inch strips. Twist strips 2-3 times then place on a lightly greased 12x15 inch baking sheet. Bake in oven for 10-12 minutes.
3
Combine powdered sugar with milk and vanilla and stir until smooth. Brush as a glaze on top of warm twists; serve twists warm.
