Kim's Notes:

I am pleased to share my Ladybug Love Tea Sammies that I created for the Valentine's Day party I had with friends this past Sunday. They were a hit and matched with my homemade Ladybug Valentine cards. I have a friend Rosemarie who is so generous & patient that she taught me how to make the cards & we created them as we went along. So, I had to have sammies to match my cards. LOL... It was fun making ladybugs & I couldn't wait for my friends to try them. I love my spread/dressing because it has a touch of heat & packed with flavor. These will disappear quickly, so maybe make a double batch.

Directions

1
Mix all ingredients for the spread and refrigerate overnight for better flavor. Several hours before the party slice your small grape tomatoes in half (longwise), the olives in half for the heads so that you can then assemble them. Now, take the tomato and pierce with toothpick that has been dipped into the balsalmic glaze to make your spots on the ladybug plus give addt'l flavor to your sammie. (These measurements for the spices are estimates as I taste while mixing together. Please add a little more if need be.)

Here is a photo of my ladybug love tea sammies at the Valentine Party we had this past weekend. I cheated and didn't put the ladies polka dots on all of the them....they are non-spotted ladybugs. haha Still though, they looked cute enough for the party.

Really cute! I will have to make this for my Grands who LOVE cherry tomatoes! I also saw how you slice diagonal 2 grape tomatoes (the small oval shaped ones) and put the 2 bigger pieces together to form a heart. Too cute! I think I saw it on the site you found, incredible recipes.

Deb, I did not find this on any site, blog or otherwise. I have seen them on Pinterest as a ladybug but that was the extent of it. I did not piece two tomatoes together....I simply sliced them in half and laid them on the bread and I cut off the ends of the olive and ate the center piece. LOL......rest assured you will not find anyone that has used balsalmic glaze as the dots. It is something I came up with last night in my own kitchen. It is my recipe and techniques and the spread/dressing is my own creation as well. Believe me, I learnt my lesson from one blogger and will probably NEVER make a recipe from a blog site. I stay clear of them.

Deb, very true...I do hope your grandbabies will have fun making them and even more fun eating them. I keep imagining what these will taste like with fresh tomatoes from the garden. Yumm!
