My sister-in-law was a gourmet cook. She has given me lots of recipes, my kids, grandkids, and family love these. So Easy! I usually double & triple this recipe, if we have guests or to take to get togethers. BTW, hot dogs do not come in 10 anymore! At least have not seen them. I use ballpark franks!

How To Make corn dogs

  • 1
Take dogs, or franks out of package and dry them. take skewers and soak them for a couple of minues, so the will not burn, then put skewers into the hotdogs Set aside. Put whatever kinds of oil you like into deep pot. Heat oil till water pops off of it, when too hot, it will cook the outside and not the inside, which will leave the cornmeal mushy. If this happens you can put it into microwave and cook about 30 to 45 seconds.
  • 2
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Then Stir in cornmeal shortening slightly beaten egg and milk. Mix well.
  • 3
Dip skewered hot dogs into the mixture, coat well, leaving no open areas. Put into hot oil and cook till golden brown. I do two at a time. If you have good size pot and deep enough you can put 3 at a time, if you are doing lots of dogs.
